Welcome to Alloa Online!

Welcome to Alloa Online - Alloa's Community Website.  Alloa is the largest town in the historic county of Clackmannanshire in central Scotland.  It is situated on the north bank of the River Forth, with the Ochil Hills forming a glorious background.  Written information regarding the early history of the town is scarce, however official records first mention Alloa as a small hamlet clustered round the Tower of the Erskines.

You will find local information, community groups and much more here on Alloa Online.  Alloa Online was originally founded under the  Clacksnet umbrella to promote local community use of the Internet, & provide assistance for local community groups to get on-line & have a web presence.  Clacksnet had now been disbanded, but Alloa.org is still operated by volunteers to benefit the local community.

We make every attempt to ensure that information on Alloa.org is accurate, please contact us if you spot any errors.

We welcome your comments, suggestions and events listings using our online contact form .

Forthbank Wind Energy Project - Alloa Public Exhibition

Following on from a similar event held in November last year, Clackmannanshire Council and Partnerships for Renewables are holding a second public exhibition to discuss the potential renewable energy project on the Forthbank amenity site in Alloa.

Venue: Bowmar Community Centre
Date: Thursday 8 July
Time: 4pm to 8pm

Having carried out extensive feasibility work, including a bird survey of the nearby wetlands area, and the erection of a wind monitoring mast on the site, Partnerships for Renewables hopes to submit a planning application for a four-turbine wind energy project in the autumn of 2010. This will have a generation capacity of between two and three megawatts (MW) per turbine and each will have a tip height of up to 125 metres.

During the exhibition, which people can drop in at any time, the local community will be presented with photomontages showing what the turbines would look like from various local viewpoints and will have the opportunity to ask questions of the development team.
