Welcome to Alloa Online!

Welcome to Alloa Online - Alloa's Community Website.  Alloa is the largest town in the historic county of Clackmannanshire in central Scotland.  It is situated on the north bank of the River Forth, with the Ochil Hills forming a glorious background.  Written information regarding the early history of the town is scarce, however official records first mention Alloa as a small hamlet clustered round the Tower of the Erskines.

You will find local information, events , community groups and much more here on Alloa Online.  Alloa Online was founded under the   ClacksNet umbrella to promote local community use of the Internet, & provide assistance for local community groups to get on-line & have a web presence.  Please visit the Clacksnet website and our sister websites, Tullibody.org and Tillicoultry.org.

Trains Return to Alloa After 40 Year Gap

The Opening Ceremony

Trains will return to Alloa today after a 40 year gap with the opening of the £85 million Stirling - Alloa - Kincardine rail link .  The line will officially be opened on Thursday 15th May by the Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson and Provost Derek Stewart.  Over 300 invited guests will attend the offical opening ceremony at the Station Car Park.  Guests will then make the maiden journey from Alloa to Stirling on a steam train hauled by the Great Marquess and the return journey hauled by the Royal Scots Grey.

Community Fayre 

Celebrations will continue on Saturday 17th May (12 - 4pm) with the Clackmannanshire Communiy Fayre.  The Fayre will take place at Greenfield Park, Alloa and promises to be a fun-packed day for both adults and children.  Entrance is free.  Events on offer include:

Passenger Services

Passenger services begin on Monday 19th May with a direct hourly passenger services between Alloa, Stirling and Glasgow Queen Street and onward services from Stirling to Edinburgh.  Scotrail have released a timetable in pdf format which can be downloaded by clicking here.
